Example sentence: The presentation was ineffective and really missed the mark.

to get the answer exactly right.

Example sentence: That’s exactly what I was thinking – you hit the nail right on the head.

to start again after a plan or idea was not successful

Example sentence: The first draft was rejected, so I guess it’s back to the drawing board.
